Tips on Removing Ear Wax Naturally
Although not a topic that is generally discussed over dinner, removing ear wax is an issue that we all have to address at some point. Earwax is a natural occurrence in every human, and it is there for a reason! It aids is protection of the ear, lubrication of the ear and cleaning of the ear. There are specific do's and don'ts when it comes to caring for your ears and preventing build up. Removing ear wax can be very easy and safe if done properly. If you do not do it properly and insert something into your ear you are at a huge risk of doing some serious damage to your ear drum and in turn your hearing.
The wax produced by our ears is nature's way of protecting our ear drums. The wax helps prevent bugs, dirt and infectious agents like bacteria from entering our ear canal. It is perfectly natural and normal. Wax flows out of our ear canal naturally and ends up on the outer portion allowing for easy cleaning. This flow of wax is often aided by movement of the jaw.
If you have a build up of earwax, you may notice itching, dryness, slight pain, hearing loss and even a ringing sound in your ear. This means that the wax has built up in the ear canal itself, and has formed a plug type situation. If left long enough, the wax gets harder and thicker and can cause real problems.
Most of us were taught when we were young to use cotton swabs like q-tips to clean our ears. What our moms probably didn't tell us about using q-tips can be very harmful to your ears! When using a q-tip or cotton swab, you are only supposed to clean the outer area of your ear. The crevices and skin are fine, but never, ever, push the q-tip into the ear canal. When you push the q-tip into the canal you are actually pushing the wax down into the ear, which causes ear build up.
The body is designed to be able to effectively remove wax without any help from us! We simply need to clean the outer ear and leave the canal alone! Go ahead and use that q-tip, but stay on the outer areas only! Removing ear wax doesn't have to be difficult if you do it the right way!
